Share Some Love

Spring is almost here. Amazing how quickly time passes. Valentines day is quickly approaching. It makes me wonder how we allowed all of our holidays to become so commercial. I love Valentines day candy and the stuffed animals and treats are pretty cute, but it’s a lot of hype for “showing love,” that shouldn’t be limited to one day of the year.

I like to keep my family all “loved up.” My kids know they are loved every day, not just one. We tell each other on a regular basis, show each other often and have fun just being together.

Valentines day is great and of course another day to enjoy sweet treats and pampering, but sharing love is something that never gets old.

Take a moment to show the people in your life you appreciate them, tell them, do something nice, and let them know they are loved.

Yip! There it is!

Today I am thankful for dogs. God really knew what He was doing when He created dogs. I am wondering if Adam decided that “dog” was man’s best friend. Can’t you see Adam and Eve getting in an argument? Adam goes off to be alone, here comes dog to sit beside him, look at him with imploring eyes and cock his head to the side as Adam grumbles.

I love dogs. They are happy to see you whether you’ve been gone 5 minutes or 5 days, they act the same either way. Dogs – when well taken care of – are predictable and steady lovers of everything you do. Dogs readily show their enthusiasm by wagging their tails, smiling, barking and jumping up and down. Honestly, I know our dogs get way more excited about going for a walk than I do, but their enthusiasm is contagious.

Dogs come equipped with sympathy and empathy vibes as well. If you don’t feel well the dog will come and lie down beside you, if they can manage it they will prop their head on you for comfort and (hopefully) gain a pat on the head.

Dogs are bandits, comedians, clowns, racers, chasers, barkers, protectors, sniffers, fetchers, and sneaker eaters, but more than all of those, dogs are loyal companions and welcome friends.

Take a moment today to enjoy the antics of a dog; it will brighten your day and the dogs too!

Trying To Get Inspired Here!!

Have you ever had a day or week when it seemed all you did was run from doing one thing to the next? There just didn’t seem to be any downtime, much less time to get inspired and actually write anything. When we get really stressed our creativity suffers, after a few days of that we start to feel strained, stressed, or down.

So what do you do to get inspired? For me inspiration can come in many forms, a good book, a blog post, a commercial or television show, nice weather, stormy weather, a song, there are unlimited ways to get inspired if you stop and notice. My problem is when I get busy I rush past things and don’t see what is right in front of me.

It’s a good reminder to not get so busy that you miss things. I think we are all guilty of that at some point. Life offers fresh ideas, new dreams, refreshing thoughts and moments, as well as little miracles each day and it all gets lost when we make a habit of just rushing through.

Yesterday I watched a squirrel playing with our dog. The squirrel was staying in the tree just above the dog as he ran in circles barking and leaping up into the air happily pointing out that there was a furry little intruder in his tree.

Meanwhile, the squirrel sat watching the dog wear himself out while munching happily on a pecan which he finished then chunked at the dog. The dog began sniffing all over the ground searching frantically for the nut.

In the mean time, the squirrel ran up the tree, leaped the branches, landed in another tree, went down that tree and up over the next door neighbors fence.

The dog couldn’t figure out where the squirrel went, and while he had been busy running around and chasing the bait, the actual prize went out of sight.

Don’t lose sight of the goals and dreams you have in the busyness of everyday life.

Puppy Love

There’s no better example of unconditional love that a dog. Whether you’ve been gone for 5 hours or 5 minutes they are still happy and excited to see you.

Unconditional Love – What an Example!

One of the best examples that we have of unconditional love is found in our four-legged friends.

A dog will love you and celebrate you being back with them whether you’ve been gone 5 minutes or 5 days. It’s all irrelevant because the only thing they care about is NOW and that you are there for them to see, love on, play with, and entertain.

In that sense, they are also a great reminder of how to live in the moment. A dog isn’t thinking about how you didn’t keep a promise 5 minutes ago or fifteen years ago. A dog isn’t going to stop and debate whether you should have to work to earn his trust back or whether you need to do other things to win his favor.

For that matter, a dog isn’t going to try to convince you that you should act this way or that way in order to be accepted or allowed to hang out with them. A dog just doesn’t let all of that interfere with the most important thing, which is to live in the moment, and enjoy every second with you.

When you think about TRUE unconditional love it puts a whole new perspective on things doesn’t it? Of course, we as humans cannot live with this kind of unconditional love. We have to have limits and boundaries in order to stay healthy, happy and to help others understand what is acceptable behavior.

Still, what a cute little four-legged reminder of how to live in the moment, accept what is in front of us, and celebrate life.

Bleary Eyed and Droopy Tailed

Some perky person told me I should be bright eyed and bushy-tailed today. Thursday night I stayed up until 1 a.m. again getting furniture ready to move Friday, taking apart beds and putting everything in one room so it will go fairly quickly. I don’t feel bright eyed today. Friday, like today I am a bit bleary eyed and droopy tailed because some of that furniture is heavy. Heck, even the dog is tired!

The move is actually, sort of, kind of, going smooth. We don’t actually have to be out of the house we were in until the 31^st of March, but I wanted to get out a few days early so we could go back and mop, steam the floors and carpet. I like to leave things as neat as when we moved in at least, though the paint job is better than when we moved in. That house was an experience in painting. One bedroom was half pink and half blue. One bathroom was swirly turquoise, and the kitchen was half turquoise and half green. It was a paint nightmare and we had to get lots of primer to cover the blue and pink room because that paint just did not want to be covered up. We worked with it and finally got it to look okay. We didn’t paint that whole house like we are the one we are moving in to now. We knew going in there that we might have to move after just a year so we left the hall way and living room white.

I can’t wait to be in the new neighborhood, the square block has a big incline, loop then comes back down to our street. I will be doing laps every day as soon as I get home. I can’t wait to get back into running! I love exercising, but I am an outdoor person. I love walking and running, but don’t care for it on a treadmill. In fact, I gave my treadmill to my brother years ago because I just didn’t use it.

I might wear little Comet out trotting up and down the blocks, maybe I should get a doggy backpack for when he gets tired. He’s a little trooper, but he is short and those little legs can only go so fast. He is a funny little tyke and I know he will make new friends in the neighborhood, but he’s going to miss his squirrel friend that likes to taunt him in the backyard now, leaping from tree to tree while Comet runs around in circles on the ground barking up into the air. One thing about dogs, they are always happy to see you, even if you just left seconds ago, they forgive easily and love freely. Cats are another matter completely, a cat can hold a grudge and give you a look that needs no wordy explanation if they are mad at you; with a cat forgiveness is earned.
